Optional Weekend - Sat Apr 15

Easter weekend arrived and with it an optional weekend at the Quincy Quarries. This is where you have an opportunity to make up for missed, lost or misundertood skills.

Even though Adam Chu and Erica Hruby made sure we all had what we needed, not too many showed up. It seems many students felt they got a good run through during previous weekends and opted for a climbing break.

For those attending, the day turned out to be georgous and we got lots of different activites going on. Everything from belaying and rappelling to ascending and climbing. All throughout the afternoon.

The morning crowd getting ready to start on their optional skills. However Brandi in the back doesn't exactly bring confidence to the group, coming in crutches after a climbing "incident".
Brenda decides to try an alternative anchoring method by stepping on the rope. Margot is doubtfull, but curious to see if it works.
Matt tries his best to untangle the rope under the watchful eyes of Brenda. In the back Linda and Gladys is setting up a rope of their own.
Let see, how did you tie that Bowline knot again?
Matt body belaying from the top with Margot as backup.
Danielle cheerfully climbs up, while her brother Chad prays that Matt's body belaying skills are up to par.
One of those free soloing ducks. What can you do, you have to share the cliffs with all kind of creatures nowadays.
Julie demonstrating her stopping technique while rapelling using carabiners.
Tracie follows the orange arrow at the bottom of the cliff, even though the cliff looks unsurmountabe to me.
Erica has now been awaken by fellow leader and instructors as community gear is returned. Overall a pretty good day.
