Rappel Weekend - Sun Apr 9Sunday arrived and so did the sun. Out of nowhere, a flock of hungry students showed up, eagerly awaiting to get throwned off a perfectly good cliff. What is it with rapelling that causes such strange behavior? This turned out to be a beautiful day at the Quincy Quarries. Lots of happy faces and climbing everywhere throughout the afternoon. No major casualties this time either. |
| Sunday saw a lot more people than previous day. Not sure if the sun had anything to do with it. Parking was suddenly scarce. |
| Brian enjoying his free rappel, the highlight of the day. Not sure what his backup belayer is doing though. |
| Julia and Chris making sure everything is set up properly before Chris decides to plunge down the chasm. |
| Chris trying to figure out how to get back up to the top of the cliff. The purple knotted rope might be a helpful tool... |
| A lost drummer from Park Street station enlighted the morning for awhile. Hopefully he is not supposed to belay someone above him. |
| An instructor gathers a devoted crowd, demonstrating a carabiner rappel. Martin immortalizes the moment. |
| In the mean time Brian is gathering a crowd of his own on the other side of the quarry. |
| Art "enjoying" his optional body rappel. What is one to do, if you are out of options? |
| Martin doesn't miss a moment with his watchfull eyes. |
| Another free rappel, this time by Wendi. Hanging in free air is a great rush. |
| There is always time for some afternoon climbing. Amy and TJ happily belaying fellow students. |
